About

Our mission at the Young Artists Foundation is to cultivate the next generation of leading world-class talent in classical music. We provide students with tools, training, and mentorship in pursuit of artistic excellence, while building community engagement through public performance. To achieve student success in today's ever-changing modern society, we believe in a holistic approach that combines music education with academic rigor to foster critical thinking, discipline, and a profound appreciation for the arts. Many of YAF's esteemed faculty, team members, and guest artists are not only accomplished musicians, but distinguished scholars with degrees from the most prestigious academic institutions throughout the world. YAF is committed to each student's journey, and through music education, serves to guide them on their paths to higher education and beyond.

History

YAF was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2023 by Juilliard alumni to provide opportunities for exceptional young students to connect with established musicians. YAFs inaugural season was fiscally sponsored by Music in Place,  a nonprofit focused on bringing culturally relevant music performances to bay area venues under the guidance and leadership of  then-Executive Director Brett Strader. Within a year of founding, YAF has since gained its own 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

In 2023, YAF launched two levels of its Chamber Music program - a beginner division for students with demonstrated mastery of their instruments but have limited experience working in small ensembles, and an elite division for university-bound students seeking competitive training at the highest level. for students and faculty to share their artistry with the local community.

Regardless of how your musical journey began, become part of YAF to explore limitless paths to any artistic destination. Apply today!
