Chamber Music Performance Series

The Chamber Music Performance Series is YAFs premier pre-professional chamber music program, offering a comprehensive and intensive learning experience. Students focus on developing rehearsal techniques, etiquette, interpretation, and performance practices at an elite level, while exploring the vast repertoire of advanced classical music. Ensembles perform frequently throughout Northern California, and are encouraged to participate in national and international chamber music competitions.

Rehearsals & Coaching Sessions

Ensembles are formed based on students' preferred geographical location, where they are assigned to one or more faculty members and guest artists. Sessions take place weekly at the teaching studio of the instructor for 90 minute sessions at a time. Students rehearse and perform substantial and noteworthy classical repertoire, aimed at challenging them at the highest level. Students in the Chamber Music Performance Series are expected to rehearse on their own outside of their assigned coaching sessions at the discretion of the instructor. Each session culminates in a public performance at a YAF-sponsored event

Eligibility

Acceptance to the Chamber Music Performance Series is a highly selective process with strict audition requirements (see below). Students must be actively receiving regular private instruction in their instruments, and have not yet graduated from a degree-granting institution such as a college, university, or conservatory. Applicants must submit a pre-screening recording, and if applicable, may be invited for a live audition.
